Finally got a bit of momentum going after a week where I found it quite hard to just get down to work, so spent most of the two days at my computer. It is somewhat frustrating work, as it’s been lingering for six months now and is really quite tricky work, but there it is, one has to pay bills etc.
Today we saw a very small demonstration, about 10 people, for the NDP candidate in the general election here, tomorrow, I believe. It was a rather sweet little demonstration, smiling and excited, but there were, as I said, only ten people there, of whom two were children. I have not really followed Canadian politics in over a decade, though I doubt things have changed enough that the NDP will have much success (though I gather she is running for a seat where the NDP is the incumbent, so that is something).
Cyril Almeida, a Dawn editor, has left the newspaper due to circumstances that are known to all. I can’t abide his writing style, but he is a very good journalist. I hope we see him again soon, in a more salubrious climate.
